You're a caregiver or professional who is dreaming of learning effective strategies to help neurodivergent kids thrive, manage challenging behaviors calmly, and build strong, positive relationships.
You've taken the leap, and started to learn about
neuro-affirming strategies, and even started to incorporate ideas from The Meltdown Manual.
But you're not seeing a supportive neuro-affirming envirnment that is incorporating strategies consistently like you hoped, and now you're worried because you understand how much this can impact a neurodivergent child's anxiety and self-esteem.
You're frustrated because...
-
You've taken self-study courses - but it's just not clicking.
-
You've read books about neurodiversity - but you're still not sure.
-
You've listened to neurodivergent adult voices - but it still doesn't make sense.
-
You've connected with other adults who support neurodivergent kids - but you're still confused.
I get it.
Discover the Power of
Neuro-affirming Support
Hey, I'm Jana
My Trifecta of Neurodivergence:
-
I'm an early childhood special education teacher.
-
I have neurodivergent family members.
-
I’m neurodivergent myself.

I created this resource after spending thousands of hours and dollars to understand neuroaffirming principles. My goal is to help create a thriving environment, respond in ways that don’t worsen situations, and understand instructional strategies aligned with how neurodivergent brains prefer to work.

Why This Matters:
-
Over two decades, I've seen the direct harm outdated methods have caused our neurodivergent kids, including my own.
-
Caregivers and professionals often seek advice on supporting the well-being of neurodivergent kids, including managing behavior through sensory and nervous system regulation.
-
Some adults unintentionally make the world even harder for neurodivergent kids.

What I’ve Learned:
-
Supporting a neurodivergent child means looking objectively and curiously from the child’s perspective.
-
Building and maintaining connection, even in challenging moments, is key.
Imagine what it would feel like to...
have a sense of ease when creating a neuro-affirming supportive environment
calmly and confidently provide emotional support during challenging times, including meltdowns
know exactly what strategy to use and when to support learning, connection, and
well-being
All without relying on harmful, outdated, compliance methods that tend to worsen situations for our neurodivergent kids.

Neuro-affirming and Trauma-Informed Checklists:

“I have implemented some of the techniques you shared about making meaningful connections with neurodivergent students.
I have an autistic student with trauma who was struggling, even with a behavioral plan. So I stopped pushing any academics and instead dived into his world.
I asked him to show me his interest, asked him questions, learned all about his likes, and supported him.
Fast forward to now and this amazing kid has started initiating conversations with adults, is asking questions about ‘adults' lives, starting to sit in closer proximity to peers, seeking me out to walk with him, and is starting to be able to transition into working on academics without breaking down. I’m so proud of him!"
